Ab urbe condita

The meme, made literal.

You already think about the Roman Empire. We just make it effortless. One real, well-told fact at a time.

Why we built this

"How often do you think about the Roman Empire?" turned a quiet personal fascination into a shared joke, and it turns out a lot of people think about it a lot. Roman Empire Daily takes that idea at face value. Instead of an app you have to remember to open, Rome comes to you: a fact on your home or lock screen, every single day.

It's meant to be the good kind of screen time. A small, genuinely interesting thing you learn between other things, with no feed to fall into.

What makes us different

Human-written

Real people research and write every fact. We may draft with tools, but a human checks each one before it ships. No AI slop.

Source-checked

Every fact is backed by a primary or scholarly source you can see. If we can't stand behind it, it doesn't go out.

Myth-free

No vomitoriums-as-puke-rooms, no salt-for-salary. We deliberately skip the tired myths that get repeated everywhere else.

Ambient by design

Most Roman apps make you open them. Ours is built to be glanced at. A widget you pass dozens of times a day. Learn something, get on with your life.

Who's behind it

Roman Empire Daily is made by MJM Design, an independent studio behind a small family of simple, privacy-respecting daily apps. No ads, no tracking, no accounts. Just a clean product that does one thing well.

Now on the App Store

The iOS app, with home- and lock-screen widgets, is free on the App Store for iPhone now.
